Looks Like Snow Needs a Math Tutor

Larry Snow has always dubbed himself as a financial expert. In fact, he has gone to great lengths over time to discredit the reputations of people who have been less than perfect with their math. But a cursory glance at the latest semi-annual report for Snow’s political action committee suggests that this self-proclaimed math wiz is in the dog house.

In short, it looks like “Mr. Math” needs to learn the difference between “addition” and “subtraction,” and learn how to fill out simple forms.

In the right hand column of his D-2 (click on the image above to make it larger, or click here for a direct link to his campaign disclosure site), in the Cash Balance section, you can see that Snow lists a total expenditure of $142 for July through December of 2008. Yet for line “E,” when he is supposed to subtract that expenditure from the line “C” total, Snow shows a total amount of funds available of $4,375.69. He added the expenditure rather than subtracting it. The number on line “E” should be $4,091.69 rather than the $4,375.69 that he has listed.

Gosh! Such a foolish mistake from a guy who has lobbed insults at real finance experts, like Stacie Talbert, Tony Quagliano, Kevin Gentry and even the group of experts who performed the forensic audit last year. Bongo guesses that if someone in District 158’s fiscal office accidentally added a number that should be subtracted in an important document, he would be the first one to cry “incompetent” to the press!
