Teacher's come out in force: accuse board of failing to negotiate.

It was a standing-room-only crowd at Thursday's board meeting as members from the Huntley Education Association filled the room to accuse the District 158 board of not negotiating in good faith. With only 17 days to go until school starts, the rhetoric is escalating, as reflected in the Northwest Herald's top story on Friday "Could D-158 teachers strike?"

In Bongo's opinion, it would be highly unfortunate if the good teachers of District 158 were dragged into a dogfight by a few renegade curs. Barking about a strike is totally unacceptable given the rising costs of utilities, the unstable economic mood, the uncertainty of elections and the level of support the community has shown in providing school funding. Bongo would consider such an act as "biting the food-giving hand." A definite no-no for doggies.

Much of the crowd exited the meeting closely following the public comment segment. Too bad many of the teachers and their supporters didn't stick around for the meeting highlight which would come later! Stay tuned for details...
