Bongo had thought he’d heard it all until he tuned into the Committee of the Whole meeting on Thursday night.
Like I said in my last post, its too bad all of the teachers didn't bother to stick around after public comment, because the best part of the night happened after they left.
During a discussion on what the board members would like Huntley High School to eventually look like (one super-large high school or two separate high schools), Aileen Seedorf explained her vision of what she thought the high school education should be.
It was an exciting moment... It took almost two years, but the individual who campaigned as an "independent thinker" finally had an independent thought.
Simply put, Seedorf envisioned a high school setting much like large colleges, where lots of kids are crammed into a lecture-hall type setting.
Bongo barked out loud when he heard Seedorf’s vision. Coming from the gal who has no kids in school, I’m sure it sounds perfectly feasible to treat high school kids as though they were sardines that could be crammed into a can.
So there you have it. The independent thinker has finally voiced an independent thought. Just cram the kids into large lecture halls for their schooling. Just think of all the money that will be saved when one teacher can teach 100 kids! To heck with differentiated learning or IEP's, right Aileen? Just think of how well the District will be able to maximize its building space usage! We’ll never need another building again! Hurray!
Wow, aren’t we lucky to have such a brilliant human on the board of education? Me wonders if Seedorf would be barking a different tune if one of those “sardines” would be her own child.
