Henderson Really in the Dog House This Time!

Bongo understands there was a massive FOIA effort at District 158 recently. A few different people scanned and sent Bongo parts or all of the report regarding the alleged “breach in security at the HEA mailbox.”

The three e-mails that are key to the investigation are shown above. Click on them so you can clearly read who wrote them and to whom they were sent.

Bongo’s summary of the 21-page report is as follows:

The report was generated after Christy Henderson, while president of the teachers union, told administrators that there was a security breach with the HEA mailbox and there were e-mails sent from her e-mail accounts to a board member that she didn’t write. It’s a serious allegation… that someone would break into her school and/or home e-mail, pretend to be Henderson, and send e-mails to a school board member.

So after Henderson made the serious allegation, administrative time was spent on an investigation to see who, if anyone, was responsible for the breach. The results of the investigation were conclusive. Through IP address matches, it was proven that both e-mails Henderson said she didn’t write were sent from a computer that Henderson uses with regularity.

The case was proven by crime-fighting dog Dave Jenkins (Director of Technology at the time and now acting COO), who did a thorough investigation and checked the IP addresses for the mystery e-mails against an e-mail Henderson sent to him from that same IP address at the same time just a few days later. Here is the excerpt from Jenkins’ report:

“I checked other e-mails that were sent from Henderson, Christy during this time period to see if they came from the same external IP address. On November 3rd at 5:29 am an e-mail was sent from Henderson, Christy to myself, HEA, HEA and Carmen Tontillo from the same IP address.”

Then the external IP address was listed.

“Therefore, in view of the 3 e-mails sent above (2 of them are claimed to have been sent from someone other than Christy or Carmen, the 3rd verified to have been sent from Christy), it is apparent that the 2 e-mails in question would have come from a residence in which Christy would have had access at 5:29 am.”

All of the backup information was attached to the report, but strangely, both of the e-mails related to the investigation were deleted from Henderson’s computer before Jenkins’ investigation took place. Hmmm.

Why would Henderson delete evidence from an investigation that she asked for with regard to the integrity of the HEA e-mail box? Wouldn’t she have wanted the e-mails to be shared with the investigator so that a complete investigation could be done?

Unless Henderson has a ghost living at her house, it appears that Henderson sent two e-mails to Larry Snow and then tried to cover it up. After all, how would it look if the HEA president was chumming it up with Larry Snow? In addition to the million questions about why Henderson and Snow would be sharing information through e-mail, Bongo would love to know how much of Jenkins’ paid time was spent on the investigation and subsequent report.

Your tax dollars at work! Legitimate investigation or an attempt by the former HEA president to cover up some shady deals? You decide!

Unfortunately for Henderson, the topics of the mystery e-mails became a permanent part of a computer use record that Bongo is sure Henderson didn’t know existed, and those titles are part of the report. They are very interesting. One e-mail was titled “Chesak Complaints” and the other was titled “Draft HEA Agreement 06-07 through 07-08.” Both were sent on October 29th, 2007, during exactly the timeframe Larry Snow took the school district administration to task over their handling of the MRSA issue.

Did Christy Henderson work with Snow to provide him with information to use in his vendetta at the time?

Remember, the expert from the McHenry County Department of Health who spoke at a board meeting said District 158’s response to the MRSA issue went above and beyond what they had to do.

The other e-mail’s title is equally as intriguing. “Draft HEA Agreement…” Is it possible that in exchange for getting Snow to publicly denounce the district’s handling of the MRSA issue at Henderson’s school (Chesak), Henderson then turned around and shared with Snow some details about the HEA’s strategies for the current negotiations? Bongo would certainly hope not and would guess the entire HEA would hope not too!

Bongo hopes someone from the inside will share the hairy details, because Bongo intends to get to the bottom of this one!

Bongo will do another post on this issue in a few days. Wait till you see who Henderson tried to initially blame for the breach, and what reaction she had when the report came out and was about to be shared with people...

Stay tuned!
