Northwest Herald Big Dogs Weigh in on Strike Ban Resolution

Remember the other day when Bongo posted about the resolution the District 158 school board sent to the Illinois Association of School Boards regarding teachers' right to strike?

It seems like Bongo's not the only one who favored the resolution. Today, the editorial board for the Northwest Herald published a glowing endorsement of the District 158 school board resolution.

For the record, the resolution proposed by District 158 would change the wording of a current policy already in place for the IASB:

Current wording: The Illinois Association of School Boards shall support efforts to discourage the ability of public school employees to strike. (Adopted 1996)

Suggested wording by District 158: The Illinois Association of School Boards shall strongly seek and support legislation forbidding public school employees from striking.

Bongo looked at some of the blog posts from the original story and it appeared that most people favored banning the right to strike. One comment that made Bongo laugh was "District 158 teachers have never gone on strike." Bongo imagines that similar comments were made a few years ago in Cary before their teachers went on strike, or in Nippersink last year before their teachers went on strike.
