Positive Press Keeps Rolling In For District 158

The only thing that could make Bongo happier this morning would be a doghouse filled with steak bones. And, well, perhaps a weather forcast that does not include "severe thunderstorms."

Bongo was bracing himself for a very rainy and gloomy day, when the letter above (click on it to make the image larger) jumped off the opinion page in today's Northwest Herald.

Bongo loves that people are recognizing all of the good that is happening in District 158.

Four paws up to Mike Thompson of Lake In The Hills for taking the time to write this positive letter. Thank you District 158, for the excellent strides you've made in the area of financial planning.

It makes Bongo wonder what great things would be possible if there weren't two board members hindering progress every step of the way.

Right on, Bongo. I looked on line at the comments about this letter and there are currently three. One of the Snowdorf robots tried to give the credit to them (no surprise there), but two other readers were very quick to point out that S and S COST the district $ rather than SAVE $. Here are the three comments:

" I commend the District 158 school board for achieving Special Reconition status. Rather than taking a cheap shot at minority board members,it would be more accurate to thank them for their persistence in eliminating unnecessary spending. These two board members, who were elected as fiscal conservatives, have done exactly what voters asked them to do. They have saved our district millions. "

" Dakotacat, would you care to give us specifics on what these two board members have saved us?
Because of them, we lost a very qualified comptroller. Because of them, we have to pay a search firm to find a new CFO. Because of them, we will end up paying the new CFO significantly more than the old comptroller. Their actions and comments have opened the district to potential lawsuits.
What unnecessary spending have they eliminated? "

" Actually, it would be inaccurate. The kudos should also include the former CFO who was chased away by the two "people" you have chosen to single out. Maybe you can explain why D158 will now be forced to pay a premium for the new CFO if life is so good? And how much was the three year forensic audit that yielded nothing? In the meantime, review these archives to see just where the millions have been saved. You'll be hard-pressed to find the "savings", because it's actually been the opposite. And this award went to all, not the misrepresenting minority. "
