Board of Education Meeting, January 24, 2008

Bongo watched with disbelief on Thursday night, as school board member Larry Snow displayed some very naughty behavior. Me thinks he needs to go back to obedience school...

School board member Larry Snow unsuccessfully tried to hijack the board resolution to officially close the forensic audit by attempting eight different times to propose a total of more than ten amendments to the 2 ½ page document. The resolution was ultimately approved 4-2 with Larry Snow and Aileen Seedorf voting against it and Mike Skala absent from the meeting.

In a performance that could only be described as Oscar-worthy before the newly mounted video streaming camera (his peeps could watch the show live from their home computers), Snow did his very best to try to discredit the forensic auditing firm of Jefferson Wells, which, interestingly, he vigorously supported the hiring of in 2006.

Proposed amendments, ranging from claims that the auditing firm did not fully execute the job they were hired to do to once again trying to dredge up the many-times-proven-incorrect claim that the district’s site and construction fund was abused to the tune of $10 million, fell one by one in 4-2 votes. Each proposed amendment was shot down in flames with solid verifiable facts presented by other board members.

Hey Larry, it’s done. It’s over. The district spent more than $110,000 looking for a smoking gun and there simply wasn’t one. The two CPAs who sit on the board with you both said the audit was complete and followed standard practices. You favored the hiring of Jefferson Wells because you felt they were a reputable forensic auditing firm. How silly that once the findings did not you suit your needs you tried to discredit the firm. Silly, but oh so typical. Move on. Everyone else has (except for the (not really) independent thinker Aileen Seedorf, who sided with Snow on every vote regarding the audit). Your antics on January 24 just further show others that you are not interested in moving forward but are only interested in living in the past. Hey dog, its time for you to learn some new tricks!
