Robert LaPorta Drops out of School Board Race

Holy Dog Bones! The e-mail below was just shared with Bongo. It appears Robert LaPorta has dropped out of the school board race, which means that the four remaining four-year candidates will now have uncontested races! Here is LaPorta's e-mail:

Hello all -

Recently I was blessed to receive a new job offer as a senior member of a Chicago based software company. This role contains the responsibility to expand the company beyond the revenue marks it has been accustomed to within the past number of years. With this, lies uncertainty towards the number of hours of effort that will be required. Thereby, my hard decision to withdraw from the current Board of Education election. Today, I officially completed all required paperwork towards this process.

Congratulations to each of you who hold the four year role. Your positions are certain and secure. Please put forth 110% of your efforts towards ensuring that Mike will win the two year term.

Please keep me in mind towards any committees that are formed, which allow community participation. I am blessed with three great kids, who will be within D158 for years ahead. My cross-functional national management, technology, sales and accounting background within Fortune 500s, and very early background within audits of school systems and government entities, could add value to the near and far term challenges and goals of D158.

Additionally, I am always available to meet for early coffee to brain-storm behind the scenes.

You have a very important role in front of you. Plan well. Always keep the big-picture in mind. Invite input from all parties involved, including School Administrators, School Principles, Teachers, Parents, Operations and local Government. Invest time to talk with members of each. Meet for coffee, lunch. Also, consider creating a brain-storming group, including parents in our community who are on staff of other school systems. Leverage their knowledge towards best-practices. God Speed....

P.S. Please get out to vote on February 24th, and encourage others as well. This primary will define who will be within Grafton Township in the next four years. We have no opposition in the main election in April. Early election in available tomorrow 2/18 and Thursday 2/19 from 9am - 4pm at the Huntley Park District. Please vote for:
- John Rossi, Township Supervisor, 11 year Huntley resident
- Betty Zirk, Trustee, lifetime Huntley resident
- Barb Murphy, Trustee, 8 year Huntley resident
- Lois Brothers, Trustee, 8 year Sun City Huntley resident
- Rob LaPorta, Trustee, 10 year Algonquin resident

Respectfully submitted,

Rob LaPorta
