HEA Negotiators Announce Strike at Midnight, but Don't Tell BOE until 3:15 A.M.

The more Bongo is learning about the behavior of the HEA negotiators, the more Bongo is reminded of a limbo contest that the HEA leaders would win, paws down!

Bongo has learned through an e-mail sent to him this morning that negotiator Mark Stahl stormed out of the meeting at midnight last night under the premise of needing to go home. In reality, he left so he could post this statement on the HEA web site for its members:

We regret that we have not been able to reach a tentative agreement as of 12:10am on September 15, 2008 with the District 158 Board of Education. The HEA is officially on strike. Please contact your picket captain for further instructions.

But wait a second. According to today's Northwest Herald, the school board was not informed of the declaration to strike until 3:15 am.

What? Wasn't it enough that you went back on your promise not to strike as long as the BOE was negotiating with you? Wasn't it enough that you had all your striking ducks in a row but kept the parents you say you care about in the dark until this morning? You had to do this to the board members too? Unbelievable! Clearly your intent was to strike all along. Why wouldn't you want parents to have adequate time to prepare? Oh yeah, Bongo forgot about the "maximum hurt on families and kids" part of your strategy.

Bongo would imagine that the HEA leaders were getting a good laugh as they continued to keep the board members awake until early in the morning for the second day in a row, knowing full well there wasn't going to be an agreement and that the teachers were going to strike.

Nice touch, HEA. Thanks for reminding Bongo that there is no line of decency you won't cross.
