Well, as long as everyone keeps their word, Homecoming at Huntley High School should be safe.
While a marathon negotiation meeting on Wednesday night (seven hours!) didn't produce a contract agreement, both sides did agree to meet on the following dates over the next few weeks:
Sunday, Sept. 7
Sunday, Sept. 14
Tuesday, Sept. 16
Tuesday, Sept. 23
Homecoming festivities are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 12 and Saturday, Sept. 13, so Bongo is hopeful that the high school kids will be able to enjoy one of their favorite activities of the year.
The school district put out a press release this afternoon about the meetings. You can read it here.
Bongo's teacher friends say they received e-mails from their union leaders asking them to once again pack the D 158 board room for their COW meeting tonight. Meanwhile, back to school night is scheduled for Heineman. Let's hope those parents aren't subjected to picketers like the elementary school parents were a few weeks ago. It was a tacky tactic, to say the least, and Bongo hopes the teachers learned their lesson.
