D 158 Kids Shine over the Weekend!

It was a great weekend for District 158 kids!

Unless you live under a rock, you heard about the 36-0 spanking the Red Raiders delivered to the Golden Eagles of Jacobs High School. As usual, the Jacobs fans did what they always do….. they all showed up in overalls and straw hats to poke fun at the “farm-folk” of Huntley. This morning, Bongo says this to the fans of Jacobs high school:

Who had the last laugh?

Congratulations to the Red Raiders football team and to Coach Graves! Four paws up!

The Sophomore football team won too, by the way. So congratulations to those boys and their coach, Mr. Morehart. It looks like Huntley is doing just fine in the Fox Valley Conference!

Yesterday, one of Bongo’s readers dropped him an e-mail and said the high school’s marching band attended a prestigious competition. The band, which just a few years ago had fewer than 50 members, took to the competition field more than 125-students strong and managed to capture 3rd place overall.

Kudos to the marching Red Raiders and congratulations to new HHS band director Mr. Konwerski! Another enthusiastic four paws up!

A look at the athletic schedules on the district web site shows that the Raiders football team is out of town for the next few weeks, but be checking the newspaper for the date and time of the next home game. Bongo saw them at Homecoming, and these kids (athletes and musicians) are worth the price of admission!
