Teachers Vote to Strike; And Guess When They Plan to Do It?

Bongo is sick to his stomach. Evidently, the HEA DID take a vote to strike on Tuesday... Only they kept it to themselves until now. Why in the world would the HEA not tell its own members the results of a strike vote?

HEY TEACHERS: YOUR UNION IS NOT REPRESENTING YOU WITH INTEGRITY

Here's the breaking story from the Northwest Herald.

And the HEA Counterproposal is now posted on the District 158 web site. It would have been nice if they would have provided a document summary, but they didn't. So if you want to read the 28-page HEA counterproposal, click here.

The bigger bombshell is that many, many teachers are confirming that their plan is to strike right after they get their first paycheck, which coincidentally (or not) falls right before Homecoming weekend at Huntley High School.

The first payday in District 158 is September 10, and the Homecoming parade, football game and dance are scheduled for that weekend. In the event of a strike, all three would be canceled.

It would be a new low if teachers took to the picket line just in time to rob high school students of the most popular event of the year. If they do, Bongo never wants to hear a teacher say ever again that they are "in it for the kids."

Striking, especially right before Homecoming, is a cruel move meant to maximize the "hurt" on the kids.

Its shameful.

Bongo has always been very supportive of the teachers, and up to this point he has been very careful to differentiate between the HEA leadership and the teachers at large. But now, Bongo is disgusted with the collective group as a whole.

Shame on all of you.
