Bongo thinks the school board showed their paw in today's Northwest Herald. You can read the story and its comments here.
According to the story, the approved tentative budget shows the district bringing in $1.7 million more than they are spending next year. Of course, the numbers are soft and subject to a lot of variables...
But Board President Shawn Green also reaffirmed the board's commitment not to deficit spend in order to reach a contract agreement with the teachers union. The current contract expires in 10 days, by the way.
"It's not really a concern, because we're not going to allow ourselves to deficit spend," Green said.
So much like Bozo's bucket game, the board appears to be saying there is up to $1.7 million available, give or take, for next year's contract. Divide it up in the buckets however you wish, but we won't be giving you a dime more than what is available because we won't go broke in order to fund the new contract.
Shouldn't it be that easy?
