Bongo hopes that many people watched the video stream of the March 13 Finance Committee meeting. Once again, Larry Snow had Bongo rolling in the isles with laughter with yet another one of his "let's lower taxes regardless of how we do it" ideas.
School state aid is based on a very complicated formula. Part of that formula is the average daily attendance at the schools. Snow actually suggested that the district should do something to make sure that all the kids are in school during the months of April and May so that attendance numbers are up and the district qualifies for more state aid.
Could it be that the same guy who last month suggested that teachers needed to take fewer days off (ie work when they’re sick) is now suggesting that kids should come to school when they’re sick? Me thinks that if the district actually were to suggest such a thing, Snow would be right there screaming MRSA (or wolf) again, suggesting that the administrators are putting people in danger.
Having kids come to school when they are sick is an interesting idea though. I wonder if Mr. Snow will be volunteering to be on vomit cleanup duty during those months?
