Bongo has been sniffing around and came across Aileen Seedorf’s campaign literature the other day. Me thinks Ms. Seedorf has forgotten what she promised people when she asked people to vote for her last year.

Transparency in District 158 was the cornerstone of her campaign. “I will keep my promise to insist on transparency and appropriate oversight,” she said. “I have been a strong advocate for transparency in our district,” she said. “If you follow what goes on in our school district then you know it needs transparency and this is something that does not come easy. I will be a board member who makes sure that it happens.”
These are all great statements which were pulled word for word from the literature she handed out when she and her political running mate Linda Moore shared a booth at the Huntley Business Expo last year. Do you remember the Seedorf-Moore booth? Their banner said they were the Women For District 158.
Bongo’s question to Ms. Seedorf is this: If transparency is what you promised the taxpayers of District 158, why are you quoted in both the Daily Herald and the Northwest Herald as saying you won’t go on record as to whether or not you think the teacher contract negotiations should be done in public or behind closed doors? Negotiations in open session ensure transparency for the taxpayers who will foot the bill for this new contract. You promised the taxpayers you would seek transparency. Why are you all of a sudden “Switzerland” when it comes to transparency?
