The letter to the editor below was published in the Northwest Herald today. It was written by Paul and Jennifer Troy of Lake In The Hills. Bongo did some digging and found out that Mr. Troy applied for the school board vacancy a few months ago and Mrs. Troy is an officer with the Chesak/Martin PTA. Bongo thanks the Troy's for publicly giving accolades to one of District 158's brightest shining stars.
To the Editor:
As taxpayers in District 158, we are thankful to have John Burkey as the superintendent of our schools.
In less than two years on the job, he has introduced new ideas to broaden and enrich the learning environment for students and he consistently has acted in the best interests of students. Most recently, he raised expectations to a higher level by challenging the culture of the district such that failure is not an option in every aspect of a District 158 person’s day.
This district-wide call not only pertains to administrators and teachers, but also to school board members. Only by setting high standards do people rise to meet such challenges. Not only do we applaud Burkey’s vision for striving higher, but also for seeking action in doing what’s necessary to help each and every child in District 158succeed.
Paul and Jennifer Troy
